My first derby car, and also my first road car: a 1976 Ford Maverick. When the car was no longer road worthy, I painted it up and entered my first derby.

The pipe sticking out of the roof is the exhaust pipe. The paint scheme was stolen from the 1991 GMC Syclone show truck. (It's supposed to look kind of like a space vehicle re-entering the atmosphere. You might have to squint a bit.)

Because you have to remove all exterior glass, I made wooden "headlights" and "taillights" out of an old 2x6 to keep the car looking stock.
